About the firm kontextR

kontextR manufactures Software as a Service (SaaS) for online publishers so that they can generate more reach for their content and advertising. The product consists of inText links and inText widgets. These can be automated and placed context-sensitive on desktop, mobile websites as well as in native apps. Here one kontextR-Overview as PDF.

It is our goal that the reader is shown relevant content and suitable advertising. Who can decide this better than the publisher himself - supported by kontextR Algorithms. Therefore we want to equip publishers with software that allows them to present the users content adequately.

Today, publishers have various possibilities to generate reach: for example via the marketer's ad server, their own content management system (CMS), external ad or content distribution networks, search engine SEA / SEO, social marketing, etc. Each solution has its advantages and disadvantages. For example, sales may have to be passed on to a marketer when using the marketer's ad server. Or complex adjustments have to be made in your own CMS - for which the technical resources are often lacking. Another possibility is that a publisher buys the reach externally.

kontextR expands and complements the portfolio for a publisher to generate reach. This means that new sources of revenue (eg native advertising) can be tested and developed even faster than is usually possible with internal and external solutions. Full control and data sovereignty remains with the publisher. The publisher also receives new data from the kontextR-Engine with which he can optimize his page (e.g. for SEO).

In a way yes! Once a publisher does that kontextR JavaScript is built in, which are published by the publisher in kontextR Cockpit created campaigns in the desired formats on its pages. kontextR provides software to the publisher at a fixed monthly price. The publisher can thus use the technology to market advertising himself or to provide his content with reach. With that in mind kontextR not an ad network, but a software provider.

Bei kontextR the publisher himself defines which keywords should be linked to which (advertising) content. Also, no popup widget opens when a reader moves the mouse over a link. Some publishers use the kontextR Links simultaneously with other providers.

questions to the product

The kontextR Content- / Ad-Server enables publishers to quickly and easily create inText-Link campaigns (with or without logos) and inText-Widget campaigns. These can be completely personalized. The key element is keyword targeting. This means that only if certain key words (not) or in combination appear in editorial texts, are these keywords either linked or a suitable widget (eg with image-text advertising) embedded between paragraphs of text.

A kontextR The campaign is run by a publisher himself kontextR Cockpit created. This is either a link or widget campaign. Campaigns can either be advertising or refer to content that is interesting for readers (eg other related, current articles on the website).

Whenever certain keywords appear in editorial texts, they can be linked or a suitable widget can be embedded in the text if a corresponding campaign is available. Keywords, combinations or exclusion keywords (eg "terrorist attack") can be created quickly and easily. This optimizes the fit of the campaign. This way, publishers can ensure that advertising and content that goes beyond kontextR is embedded, always matches the editorial text that the user is reading.

Publishers have the option of creating inText-Link campaigns with or without a logo. This means that a keyword is provided with a desired hyperlink and the publisher can optionally add a logo. This logo appears directly in the text behind the keyword. Logos show readers what to expect when they click on them. For example, a shopping cart, brand or product logo.

kontextR inText links enable the publisher in two ways that the reader is identified as such with advertising content. The publisher can store a so-called info tip (appears as a line of text when you move the mouse over a linked keyword) - for example, "Display: here is the current offer". In addition, a logo can clearly indicate to the reader that it is an advertising offer. For example, if a keyword such as "halogen flashlight" is provided with an Amazon logo and indicates that the click leads to the appropriate Amazon offer.

A context widget is a kind of placeholder in which any content can be loaded. Eg image-text advertising, videos, etc. The widgets are placed in articles where the publisher wants to embed them. For example, after the 3rd paragraph, at the end of the text, etc. An important differentiator from kontextR is that it is not placed below or next to a text, but always in or directly at the end of the text. The widgets can be controlled both by categories / URL paths or by keywords.

Currently offers kontextR Image text widgets on with different templates. Iframes can also be embedded or videos. New widgets are constantly being developed. Likewise, a publisher or (his) advertiser can have special widgets on the kontextR Have the platform created (e.g. a car configurator).

Example: Live stream player between paragraphs where keywords match the live stream in the text.

You can currently with kontextR targeting keywords or paths / URLs. We do not collect user data.

kontextR provides every publisher with the so-called cockpit. Link and widget campaigns can be created in a few seconds. Reports can also be viewed in real time.

Fade-ins or clicks, the number of maximum links per text (length), minimum distances, placement positions of widgets, sizes of widgets, widget designs (e.g. according to corporate design), etc.

For each campaign, a publisher sees how often it has been shown, how often it clicks, the performance of the stored keywords and much more data.

The kontextR The platform is designed in such a way that formats can be developed quickly and cheaply, which would otherwise cost tens or hundreds of thousands of euros for publishers or (his) advertisers. Depending on the scope of the project and available resources, we develop new scenarios for our customers with which they earn more money (e.g. an event or white paper download widget) or make their customers even happier (e.g. live football tickers in all articles) Football clubs while the game is running).

Business issues

Publishers who sell advertising in parallel to their own marketer use kontextR to provide your ads, advertorials, native ads or other content with reach. The kontextR Formats in text links and widgets generate the overlays that publishers sell as CPMs or the clicks that they sell via CPC. With affiliate links (e.g. on Amazon), publishers can also generate additional sales.

Example: inText links to advertising and editorial content, with or without a logo.

Even if additional money is to be earned through affiliate campaigns, there are still plenty to do kontextR Affiliate links and widgets from third-party providers or partner programs (e.g. Amazon).

Editors are reluctant to put advertising links or widgets in their texts. In addition, they have to expand it again as soon as a campaign ends or a certain quota is reached, which is difficult for an editor to handle. On top of that kontextR built into all publisher article URLs configured by the publisher. An editor cannot do this for thousands or even millions of URLs. kontextR The automatic fade-in relieves the editorial staff or content management in particular of not having to laboriously ensure the reach that is to be placed in the text.

If there is nothing on your website that needs more reach, then you need kontextR does not. kontextR specializes in scenarios that are often difficult or complex to implement with an ad server. For example, with kontextR a widget campaign can be created within seconds that differs in style from all other widgets. Keyword targeting is also rudimentary for most ad servers. kontextR on the other hand is a search engine that calculates keywords and contexts and does not only use tags set manually by editors. In addition, some publishers use the ad server of the marketer and have to give the marketer a share in sales for their own campaigns, even if they themselves advertise customers (e.g. for an advertorial) acquired to have.

The kontextR Formats click with the best of all online formats that are known to us. Depending on the publisher, keyword, logo, widget content, click rates up to a factor of 100 are achieved compared to normal advertising banners.

As soon as this has been installed by the publisher, the publisher receives access to the kontextR Cockpit. This enables him to create the first campaigns, configure many settings and immediately view the reports live.
